Program schedule

24 weeks of non-stop creating

Design itself isn’t only about doing or creating; it’s about the designer learning everything they can about users, clients, teammates, practices, tools, and themselves. Our 24-week immersive program is packed with:

  • An innovative, modern digital design curriculum, taught by industry veterans
  • Professional and personal development training, including live client project work
  • Countless hands-on opportunities for developing and improving your design process

Weeks 1–6

Design Essentials

Start your design journey with the basics of user experience design and research. Learn the building blocks of UX, interaction design, UI, and visual design, then put them all together to form a design process.

Weeks 7–12

Virtual Phase

Designers apply more advanced knowledge and skills to team projects that are critiqued and iterated upon frequently. The primary feature of this phase is a focus on either UX or UI, with both tracks running simultaneously within a given cohort.

Weeks 13–17

Immersion Phase

The first in-person phase ties in important features of professional practice and team-based design, along with the vital skills of analyzing and synthesizing work. Each of the five weeks of the phase is set up as a sprint, so teams know how much work needs to be done before the next sprint review, and how to budget their time to accomplish it all.

Weeks 18–21

Client Phase

Designers work with live clients on live products. Design teams gain further confidence in publicly discussing their work and process through multiple presentations to their clients. UX teams handoff annotated wireframes for UI designers while UI teams create redlined style guides for front-end developers to take over.

Weeks 22–24

Career Phase

The final phase prepares each cohort member to effectively tell the story of their growth as a designer, through case studies, portfolio development, résumé building, and much more. Studio visits, alumni panels, hiring manager panels, and mock interviews also happen during this phase.
